It is formed by two characters, one is Mother (Post 47) on the right
another is Child (Post 21) on the middle left
The character is a picture of a mother feeding a bay.
Its small seal script is
in which the left top is a hand, left bottom is character Child. The right part is mother's body, but greatly simplified. It is much less pictography than its shell bone script.
Its clerical script is
similar to the small seal script
The current standard printing script for traditional or simplified character is same
乳
same as the clerical script.
Since clerical script, the character is not very good pictography any more. People could not be able to relate the character to the picture of breast-feeding. However, if we see the shell bone script, we can see the original character, and understand how it evolved to today's script.
It's Pinyin is "Ru3".
